Specialization Reception in Charlotte Recap
The Board of Legal Specialization hosted a reception and interest meeting in Charlotte last month at the Mecklenburg County Bar building. Bob Mason, chair of the Board of Legal Specialization, welcomed nearly 50 specialists and potential specialists to the event sponsored by Lawyers Mutual. Brian Oten, executive director, recognized several newly certified specialists and as well as several 30-year specialists. Jim Cross, who was originally certified as a specialist in residential real property law in 1989, encouraged those in attendance who are not yet certified to seriously consider applying when they are eligible.
“The Charlotte reception was a wonderful compliment to the earlier specialization luncheon in Raleigh. I thoroughly enjoyed meeting my fellow specialists (especially since it was my 30th year), and potential new applicants. The specialization staff worked diligently to make the gathering a great success. I hope a new tradition was started in Charlotte so we can have a fun event every year at a separate site.” James E. Cross Jr., board certified specialist in residential real property law
“I greatly appreciated the State Bar’s effort in organizing an event in Charlotte. It was an excellent networking opportunity to meet other new and seasoned specialists. It was also a privilege to be recognized for my new specialization in privacy and information security law alongside those being honored for decades as specialists.” Steven T. Snyder, board certified specialist in privacy and information security law, CIPP/US, CIPT, FIP, PLS
